Speak & Translate

Speak & Translate App

Vision Statement

Easy-to-use app that translates on the go. When considering the redesign of this app, I wanted to focus on translating at the moment. Translated history is accessible for users to refresh the memory of their conversation with a foreign speaker.

Redesign

Task 1: Setting the Languages

Keep the design as simple as possible by keeping all actions on the main page

Task 2: Requesting a Translation

Keyboard input

Typing is the most fundamental and accurate way of method of input

Audio input

Since the purpose of the app is focusing on translating on the go, speaking out verbally is the most efficient way to input during a conversation.

Handwriting input

Handwriting may not be the most common way of inputting, but there must be times when we don’t know how to input a language. I just found it has a fun twist and a little bit of a learning element than just straight on taking a photograph, especially for a language that you’re interested in.

Task 3: Translating
